Koh Samed

Well, we just had our last day of ministry... "but you still have 5 days overseas left" you might say.

True, but 5 days is no big deal, WHEN YOUR GOING TO A TROPICAL ISLAND RESORT!!

Yep, we've suprised our students for their 6 months of hard work. Missionary work is no walk in the park. It's fun sure, but it's also teasious and plodding. Out students got a great taste of what ministry overseas looks like, but it's important to rest as well. So we'll be being staying on an island in Thailand soaking up the sun and talking about our shared experiences. It will be a great time of debriefing.

Pray that we'll have a great time and have a safe trip home. We will be back in the states the 1st and can't wait to see you all.

Signing off,
-JABrown

Our week in Ratchaburi!!

Posted by email
The last week in Ratchaburi was officially our first week doing ministry in Thailand, and we love it! We worked in a Burmese camp and was awesome go back to this place a few times, and actually have the time to be with the kids and just know them better, and spend time with them. Also we went to a handicap center we played with the kids, was fun and we went to a prison and some of the people receive Jesus before but they actually didn't know anything about Christianity, so we had the opportunity to do a teaching about basis of Christianity. It was great! Then the weekend i can say that we has a really nice ministry, we helped in a English camp right next to the beach. It was awesome and we really enjoyed the time there with the girls. We played with them, we actually planned some of the activities from the camp and I really feel that God used us with the girls. Also God showed me something with this ministry, because compared with the ministries that we had in India, this was actually pretty nice for outreach. The place, the food, we had a lot of fun, and for a moment i thought , "well this doesn't look like a ministry", but God said the opposite and told me that we can do ministry everywhere. Just because we really had fun and enjoyed it, is not ministry, actually God want us to enjoy what we do, and not just because is what we're supposed to do!

So in general we had a nice week here in Ratchaburi we worked in a different way that we were used to and is good to be open a different things! I have to say that the last day here was our day off and was a really busy day, but as you see in the pictures we had a good time, we went to the floating market and i liked it so much, and then we went to ride a elephant, =) after that we went to some caves, and last, we went to see thousands of bats coming out from a cave, it was crazy and so stinky !

Well now you can see we had a good week, but I'm excited for Pattaya. It is our last place, and I'm sure that God have something awesome for us!! so continue playing for all of us!!  we will see you very soon!

Thailand: week 1

Posted by email
Team Indiland has been loving the land part of our name. Most notable is our transition from Indian food to Thai food. Ice in the drinks, vegetables you can taste, Pad Thai, chicken fried rice, crispy chicken salad, sticky rice, cashew chicken, sweet and sour chicken, and Thai ice tea. We love Thai food. The coke is also in glass bottles which obviously tastes the best.

Our ministry this week has not been life changing to any of us...more tiring than anything. We were the childcare providers or babysitters if you prefer, for the YWAM southern Thailand regional conference. Hopefully, our participation by taking the children off their parents hands for a bit, changed these parents lives and developed their ministries...needless to say none of us are ready for our own children anytime soon...it also made us appreciate our own parents a lot more.

Bangkok is super American. No trash on the kind of paved roads. Washing machines. More Internet. Air conditioning. Kentucky Fried Chicken. Shopping malls. You know, things that make you think of America.

We got to go see a movie too! Inception. Or "interception" as Denise calls it. Or "intercession" As Erin calls it (YWAM joke) It was awesome to feel normal for a bit. Also it was a really good movie and you should see it if you haven't already.

On Saturday we got to wander around JJ's market, the largest open market in Asia. If you are a loved one, look forward to some souvenirs. After that we traveled to Ratchaburi. We'll be here until the 17th. Our ministries include more babysitting, hanging out with Burmese refugees, prison and church visits, english camps, and a performing at a home for the mentally handicapped. There have been rumors that we will get to go to a monkey mountain, a bat cave, ride an elephant, and go to a floating market on our day off. These next few days should be fun.

The thing we have appreciated the most is the freedom. The Thai people are shy, passive, and very sweet. We have more freedom to explore the cities and areas we are staying in. Which means we have more of an opportunity to find hidden markets, restaurants with great new foods, and to make new friends and build relationships.

Our excitement continues to grow for Thailand. Pray for all of our upcoming ministries. That is all for now.

We only have 3 more weeks. Interpret that as you wish.

Indilands thoughts about India

As team indiland we wanted to share a few of our thoughts about India with all of our loved ones. This is ment to be a small picture of the large picture of our time in Tamil Nadu. Each person was asked to sum up India in a few sentences. Enjoy!

-Mikaylah Keith-

India is a feast for your eyes. There are so many colors from houses to buses to wemon's scaves, I love it. I also love Indian food and the peoples great hospitality and friendlyness towards us, even when we were strangers to them. The children in India are beautiful with thier bright smiles. I hope to come back to India one day.

-Erin Vroom-

like indian goats. I wanted to adopt an indian child but Ashley wouldn't let me. So I'm settling for an indian goat. I also like rooftops with sunsets, lightning, books, music, conversations, and pomegranetes. My favorite things are the slums, villages, mothers, fathers, grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles, and children all with Jesus in their faces.

-Lusiano Pasillas-

India has really left me changed, knowing that people are doing normal humanitarian things to help the poor, to help the widow, orphans, and all who are in need. They include one very important thing, they share the Good News.
I love how the oppressed are coming to those who have ministries for help with one thing, but end up leaving with something better.

-Kevin Wood-

Our time in India is coming to a close and these are a few of the things that really spoke to me while we were here.  I really liked how the church here in India has a lot of different ministries to help with the oppressed (orphans, women, poor, etc).  Many of the ministries focus on getting children out of oppression and offering them training to have a better job and life.  This enables them to be able to get a good education or a good job so hopefully they wont be taken advantage of by other individuals.  I am also very encourage on how the churches come together and work as a body.  I was able to see pastors come together to build one another up and to share ministries.  The hospitality here India is amazing, everyone treated us like royalty.  Thank you India for all that you have given us.

-Estefania Zavala-

Increadable India. The people are very welcoming and hospitable. The best chai, rice everyday, caotic traffic, squatty potties, goats and cows everywhere.... All this makes India my favorite! Seriously, I love India!!!!

-Denise Schlegel-

There is so much to choose from but since I must narrow it down: The colors, pomegranites, worship in tiny churches, holding babies, rooftops during thunder and lightning storms, Indian hospitality (cool drinks, chai and biscuits), being called auntie, pastor's with big dreams, goats (that stand on the highest point possible and eat paper floats), emails from loved ones, and most of all the people. We have taken many pictures of the people here but, the truth is-nothing can capture the beauty and life in them. God keeps giving us Matthew 5, since we have been here. It fits.

-Nadia Smith-
WOW!..."A whole new world....a dazling place I've never seen...Every turn a surprise... A cow & goat and things to see...the drivings mad, but he kept us safe so far... And now we end, with time to spare...let me share this whole new world with you...Some other time!"

-Josh Brown-
I was reminded so much of how much God cares for individuals. It astounded me to hear stories of a personal revelation from God from some "random" person in India. It really reinforced my understanding of how much God cares for each and every one of us.

That, and I really want to return there someday with a really nice camera and just record every sight and sound; incredible.

-Ashley Brown-

If you want to laugh in the face of danger then ride in an auto. If you want to use tolet paper then you better carry it on you. If you want to get so full of rice and who knows what, that you can hardly move, then eat at an Indians house. If you want the best tea, coffee, and biscutes or maybe a cold drink just stop in any Indians house and pray for thier family... It never fails. If you have enouph faith to raise a dead man or heal the sick or share about love, relationship, and Jesus Christ then play music loudly and the whole village will come. If you want to hear increadible stories of those who were opressed but have been set free by a relationship with Christ, GO TO INDIA!!!!! I truly loved our time in India and the friends we made. God is at work in the Indian people.

Please pray for us as we start our new adventure in Thailand. Thank you for covering us in prayer while we were in India. We were blessed more then we could have imagined.
